[ajug-members] Java Certification - Worth it?

Actually the Developer exam was worthwhile to me in the sense of
maturing in Java development. Writing the project was the first time I
was responsible for all parts of a distributed program. So while I agree
that certification does not impress an interviewer and that most are not
very useful you will find some with value. The one I am really upset
about is the architect one where Oracle now insists that you not only
pass the exams but you must have actually taken a course *from them!*.
It is clearly a money making device.
