I think the more "damaging" part of the news here, is actually that by
deprecating Java, they are also saying it will not be allowed as a
base technology for anything in their app store.

So, yes, we have the same basic problem in the other operating systems
as far as getting the jdk/jvm. We do not, however, have to deal with a
steward for the OS saying that the technology we have chosen is
"deprecated" and will not be sanctioned.
