[ajug-members] design theory

That is Sun's CYA clause. Java _is_ used in nuclear control
facilities, automobile and traffic management systems, air traffic
control and many other 'extreme reliability' requirements.
I asked Gosling at a conference last year why they have it when I know
such environments exist, and he said pretty much every company behind
a programming language does the same thing to cover their tails, given
the legal repercussions that could happen if something goes wrong.
So, if something ever _did_ go wrong in those environments, and
someone tried to sue Sun because of the VM, they could say "See? We
told you. Its not our fault. And that you agreed to the license
before downloading indemnifies us. Your fault."
