[ajug-members] JasperReports/iText/BIRT

The last time I looked at JReports and it was a horrible piece of software.
The organization I was working for at the time had been encouraged to
develop its entire reporting application as a Model 1 architecture (pure
JSP's with embedded scriptlets mixing view, middle tier, and back end logic)
by someone at jinfonet. This caused massive problems when attempting to
upgrade to the latest versions. When I had to deal with technical support
due to some issues we were seeing it wasn't exactly a pleasant experience,
as the calls went to technicians that hardly spoke english.

I haven't looked at it recently, but from past experience I would encourage
anyone evaluating the software to really put it through its paces before
making a decision. Where I'm currently at we're evaluating BIRT and it's
being well received.
