I think it helps a little bit in getting a job.  It does show that you
have a basic understanding of the syntax and are aware of some of the
more arcane aspects of the java language.   However, I still felt like
I had a lot to learn after I passed the exam.   I think it is worth
about 6 months of experience.

Using junit, mock objects and test first development was a very
helpful for me while developing in my last job.   I highly recommend
reading the junit in action book.  http://www.manning.com/massol/

It makes development easier by allowing you to focus on just the
problem you need to solve at that moment.   So often I get pulled down
into rabbit holes that I really don't need to go down.

Does anybody else have that problem?
