The magic of such sites is twofold:
a) You can calibrate just how much of it you want. Other media make you feel obliged to get to the end of the conversation/email etc. Many of you have decided only a little is enough but some need a flood.
b) You feel listened to. With the demise of the arts of conversation, letter writing etc., there is a need to feel listened to. Again most of you are no prattlers so you probably don't need the extra sink.
Just like chat rooms most of the material is not worth reading these sites do still attract eyeballs.
