I don't know about classes, but there are a few good books out there, that you could work through and then take the SCJP test. I would also work on getting a good grasp of Design Patterns and at least one framework (Struts, etc.). You will find that there are a wide range of books, that cater to different learning styles,...I personally like the Head First books.

Additionally, "JAVA" is wide-ranging in its applications, so you may want to decide what might work best for you (or that you might be best at, or most interested in), so that you can narrow down your educational focus,...e.g., focusing on Struts, JSPs, and controller classes if you think you might be more front end; or focusing on creating webservices, if that is better for you; etc.

Good luck.

All:

I am looking for recommendations as to where in Atlanta I can get quality classroom (or otherwise) training in JAVA, such that, when completed, I can market myself as a JAVA newbie and the training I completed will be looked upon favorably by prospective hiring managers.

Thanks in advance for all your recommendations,
G
