Is there a non-listserver address to discuss this further?

Subject: [ajug-members] Consulting posistion

I'm in the process of looking for a replacement for my current
consultant. I think you guys remember Jason Fabritz from this group
when he lived in Atlanta. I believe he has been working with me for a
while now. I think maybe 4 years? He has been extremely busy with his
day job and family so he has cut back his hours and wants to take a much
smaller role in the development of our Java code. I'm not too happy
about this because he does an outstanding job for me. I found him on
this list so I think that I can find another star too. Basically Jason
always had a day-time gig. We have such little work that he would work
an hour or two at night or in the mornings and some on weekends.
Occasionally when he had an off day he would work many more hours. We
also met once a week on AIM. I think total he might have clocked in up
to 30 or 40 hours a month. I don't do the accounting so I don't keep
track. I only signed the invoices to pay his company (Bug Bytes). So
his replacement would need to work a similar situation because I do not
have 40 hours of week worth of work. Here is a list of things we do:

1. Swing Applications
2. Swing Applets
3. J2EE Application running on Tomcat in Linux
XSLT, XML, DoJo and a few other technologies.
    MySQL.

Candidate should know Linux and the ideas of UNIX. One of our apps
is a VT100 emulator that needs to be maintained and updated to make
emulation work better. We are also looking at implementing very small
pieces of AJAX to do simple tasks on the site. Like do a page refresh
when a new alarm is entered in the database.

If you know Perl then you can help with some of the backend stuff. Get
more hours...

You would need a server at your location running our software. We would
give you access fro that server to our offices so you can update our
WIP. Since I travel and train I may also find bugs in your software. I
find bugs in my own. I may call needed it fixed.

Other than that the work is laid back. We move at an easy pace but
sometimes have deadlines.

You also need to live in the Atlanta area. Buford is even better :)
We don't met much but if explaining something face to face vs over AIM
works better I might come by and visit. No need to come to our offices
unless we have to. I only go about once a week myself.

If this sounds fun then email me directly and tell me a little more
about yourself.

Jason will probably still hang around doing bug fixes and very minor
stuff. He just does not have the time to implement major features to
the site.
