Hi Barry,
We have a development AS/400 ( we know that's really what it is ) at
V5R3. We don't run WebSphere on it, but my partner has a lot of experience
with WebSphere on the AS/400. He'd be a good resource if you run into
problems.
As it happens, I'm on a project now that's using WebSphere 6.0 ( 1.4 JDK
;-( ) on a V5R4 box. However, I'm only handling the reporting end ( getting
to be near-expert on JasperReports ) and not really dealing with the server.
I will tell you that my own preference is to run the J2EE or servlet
container on another box and use the AS/400 for what it's best at, which,
among other things, is database and security.
