Does request.getSession().getObject("objectThatINeed") not get you where you need to be?

Is it possible to retrieve information from a session using javascript? I need to get information about a user from a java object that has been stored in the session. I have searched the web and have not been able to find any information which tells me how to do this for a j2ee application. Any help would be appreciated.
