Hello AJUG'ers,

I'd like your feedback on a few items. Joe Talafous was kind enough to take
on the leadership on the Latte study group which is targeted at those folks
interested in learning many of the base-level Java and J2EE skills. They
have done a fantastic job pulling together a Wiki, tutorials and meetings.

The job market has heated up and I've received a few requests for
entry-level Java/J2EE programmers.

A critical success factor for our Atlanta-based Java community is growth.
At some point, some of the AJUG'ers will hit it big and retire. Others will
move on to non-Java and perhaps non-software career paths. As a community
we all need to be recruiting for future AJUG members. Key presenters and
sponsors are most interested in an organization that is vibrant, thriving,
large and representative of a large cross-section of the local market (corp.
america, consultants and ISVs).

- How do we encourage "newbies" to join our Latte group?
- What mentoring can we provide for these folks looking to increase their
skills?
- What is the correct path for newbies? Please check out the following
attempt at a path
http://jtalics.com/JSPWiki/Wiki.jsp?page=JavaExperienceLevels
- How do we encourage more participation from current Java developers who
otherwise don't attend?

Burr
