[ajug-members] JSL SIG - Updated Link?

I guess this is one of the reasons I never really enjoyed web development... Now that software is a commodity, I'd rather develop software against a standard than try to adhere to a specific vendor's standard. IE7 is still ways off from passing the ACID tests. At one point in our project, we were thinking of sticking with writing software that would work with the crippled version of java that ships with windows, or force users to upgrade to Java 1.4 JRE. Sure it would have been easier for the users if we stuck with the crippled version of java, but would it be better for the users in the end? Does software improve if we are satisfied with what vendors distribute on computers or will users accomodate the idea of downloading software to improve their experience?

Justin's point is still valid, because odds are most users will be hitting the website using Internet Explorer, and will not change browsers just to improve their user experience on one site. Until the majority of users are running Firefox, you have to be realistic and support what most people are using.

You must be using Internet Explorer. The site is javascript heavy and is extremely slow on IE6. The site is pretty quick on Firefox however.

Done.

Burr you need to talk to whoever runs the IASA site. I would not associate myself with any IT organization whose website is as slow as the IASA one. :)

Most of those groups have since ceased to function.

At this point, let's whittle down to:

and

IASA Atlanta (note the lack of my picture!)

Keeping a user group alive is a tough job. ;-)
