Curt,
Jakarta Poi works pretty well for MS Excel. You could then insert the
rows/cells into your DB using JDBC.

Anyone solve the MS Excell spread sheet upload and import columns into a
DB problem?
My first thought is to require the customer to save as .csv and then do
simple row parsing on comma or space.
Any toolkits or API's out there?
