The candidate will be involved in the development and support of data access objects for our custom developed applications. They will drive the requirements gathering, design, and development of the data access layer for all of our in house applications. Candidate must facilitate multiple sessions with our development teams to understand data access requirements and data needs. They will then work hand in hand with the DBAs to develop the most efficient SQL queries and code the requisite data access components, which they will provide the application development teams. They will also work with THD's new Big Data clusters, writing the interfaces and map reduce jobs for data analysis. 

The Sr. Developer has proficient knowledge of multiple programming languages along with the ability to take business requirements and develop the total technical design for an entire application to be run in production. The Sr. Developer has the ability to lay out requirements for the project team. Ability to guide and direct work on multiple projects and ensure proper usage as part of the design efforts in building a system to be put into production. Thorough understanding of life cycle development through production implementation and post implementation. The Sr. Developer has the ability to present at the various architecture review boards. Display strategic view of applications and how they fit into the whole retail space.


MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES - 
Define, plan and implement solutions on assigned moderately complex projects.

Take business requirements and develop the total technical design on moderately complex projects and ensure proper usage as part of the design efforts in building a system to be put into production.

Conduct appropriate test reviews for assigned projects and present to architecture review boards as necessary.

Promote and follow the established processes, policies, standards and procedures to assure compliance with corporate and regulatory policies and standards.

Provide technical direction to associate developers, developers and contractors.




Job Restrictions:
----------------

The preferred candidate will work independently with minimal direction. They must have a strong understanding of database access and SQL. They should also be very familiar with Java and JDBC. They will have the ability to drive in multiple work streams simultaneously.

This candidate should posess technical expertise in the areas below:

•Advanced Java development with focus on JDBC

•Experience with standard SQL against DB2/UDB, Informix, mySQL or SQLServer

•Experience with big data stores and nosql systems (Hadoop, Solr, Cassandra, etc.)

•General proficiency in XML

•5-7 years related experience.

•Retail/business experience a plus.

•Project leadership ability.

•BS Computer Science or related field.
