Role Summary/Purpose
 The Senior Software Engineer, part of the GE Energy Systems Engineering team, will be responsible for leading the development of the Smart Grid Software Infrastructure software. We are building a team of the best and the brightest to create the next generation of green power systems. We want you to apply your creativity, enthusiasm and skills in software design, Java, SOA, distributed systems, scalability, reliability and performance to meet one of the greatest challenges of the century. 
Essential Responsibilities Lead the implementation and design of one or more core subsystems of the Smart Grid Software Infrastructure in a timely manner, within budget and with a very high degree of quality

Work cross-functionally and cross-business closing requirements, detailed design, and championing innovative ideas

Pro-actively propose new designs, optimizations, and the use of latest technologies

Coach and tutor junior team members with their design and implementation

Stay abreast with current & emerging software technologies & vertical industry needs

Communicate in a concise manner to a team of highly technical peers, project managers and with business leaders

Desired Characteristics
Hands-on experience in the complete software development life cycle (SDLC) of distributed, large scale software

Strong analytical, problem-solving skills

Outstanding software development and debugging-skills

Experience developing, managing software products and/or leading software teams.

Excellent interpersonal skills

Team player and able to work with minimum supervision.

Strong communication skills: writing, oral and presentation - including, but no limited to, communication with technical peers, business leadership, writing / presenting design proposals

Able to work in a fast-paced environment with aggressive schedules, evolving requirements and new technologies 



Job Restrictions:
----------------

Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information systems 

Minimum of 6 years software development experience

Minimum of 4 years Java software development experience
