Application Architect 

Our client has an immediate full time opportunity in its enterprise architecture group for a talented individual looking to take on a new and exciting set of challenges.  The enterprise architecture group is a small (~10 individuals), dedicated team that is responsible for innovating and maintaining the cohesion of the entire product offering.  As a member of this team, the individual will have the opportunity to work with a vast array of technologies spanning server, client, mobile and network applications. 

We are looking for an individual with strong experience in web application design and development.  The ideal candidate will posses technical expertise in both server-side and client-side development and be equally comfortable working in either discipline (as this position is tasked with responsibility over projects that involve complex design and development challenges in both).  Most projects overlap with multiple products so familiarity with a broad set of technologies are preferred, but core competencies should include Java web application and JavaScript rich client application development.  Coding is not a core responsibility of the position, but a passion for the science and practice of development is required and the Application Architect is encouraged to code where practical. 

Responsibilities: 

+ The Application Architect creates, documents, and oversees the implementation of software architectures at the project level. 

+ The Application Architect collaborates directly with (and often mediates between) all stakeholders of the project - business and technical - to ensure that the delivered project both achieves the immediate business needs and is appropriate for the expected life of the product. 

+ The Application Architect is an active member of the project team and provides direct support, guidance, mentoring, and code review for the entire life of the project.  Responsibilities normally do not require coding, but coding is encouraged where time and/or challenges permit. 




Job Restrictions:

Requirements: 

+ Minimum 10 years of experience developing and designing software applications. 

+ Minimum 5 years of experience in web application design and development. 

+ Comprehensive mastery of Java web application technologies. 

+ Expertise in rich web client development (JavaScript component development, DHTML/AJAX, Flash). 

+ Outstanding people skills - position requires extensive communication, collaboration, negotiation, persuasion, etc. 

Desired: 

+ Minimum 3 years of experience as a software architect. 

+ MS in Computer Science or related field. 

+ Broad background in multiple technologies.
