Scope of Responsibilities   
   
  Develop features for the ON-Center Network Management System (NMS).
 
   
Specific Responsibilities   
   
  ·         Develop components, primarily in Java, of carrier-grade Element and Network Management system software that delivers FCAPS solutions for network service providers.

·         Responsible for the entire software lifecycle from requirements through architecture, design, coding, unit testing, feature testing, and interfacing with our product verification teams and possibly directly with customers.
 
   
Candidate Profile   
   
  ·         Capable of handling aspects of complex software development and support in large scale, distributed, Linux/Unix/NT-based computing environments including requirements definition, design, coding, and testing production releases.  

·         Working independently and with a team of other developers

·         Past participation in all aspects of the software development cycle: design, coding, testing, maintenance

·         Experience working on a shipping software product

·         Solid background in OO design

·         Programming experience in Java, and possibly also C++

·         Programming experience with multithreaded applications

·         Candidates must be creative and have strong communication skills

·         Ability to work with little supervision

·         Enjoys working in a rapidly changing environment

·         Excellent documentation and communication skills
 
   
Education / Experience   
   
  ·         Computer Science or Engineering degree, or equivalent

·         10+ years experience in concepts of distributed application design and implementation.

 

·         Experience with a variety of the following:

·         Databases (OO and/or SQL)

·         Java

·         Java RMI and/or CORBA

·         Client / server architectures 

·         Ant

·         JUnit

·         Python and/or Ruby

·         WebLogic

 

Telecom Technologies:

 

·         Ethernet bridging and VLANs

·         IP routing

·         Layer 1, Layer 2 and higher services

·         Optical Transport Networks (OTN)

·         SNMP

·         TL1

·         CORBA

·         ATM switching
