The newly established Center for Comprehensive Informatics (CCI) at Emory University is inviting applications for part-time and full-time software developer positions as well as postdoctoral research. These positions offer an opportunity to work in a team on leading edge software projects motivated by biomedical, scientific, and clinical research applications and to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary group of researchers and software developers.  

Our software research and development efforts target application domains that require data and knowledge integration across multiple scales and resources, and require management of large scientific datasets.  Our projects involve collaboration with both application developers and computer scientists from multiple institutions.  Our group is involved in several large scale projects, including the NCI-funded cancer Biomedical Informatics Grid (caBIG; https://cabig.nci.nih.gov/) and the CardioVascular Research Grid (http://www.cvrgrid.org).  

In these projects, we collaborate with other software teams and lead efforts to develop Grid-enabled imaging middleware systems, Grid middleware for biomedical and scientific research, and high-performance data and knowledge management and integration systems.  





Job Restrictions:

Candidates should be in CS or ECE (in the undergraduate, Masters, or Ph.D. programs) or in an equivalent field with excellent knowledge of programming, algorithms and data structures.  

Successful candidates will be expected to assist with and carry out the development of software components, implement and harden prototypes, and develop applications on top of middle ware systems.  

Applicants should have strong programming skills in Java and/or C++, object oriented-design, XML, SQL, and database development. Prior experience with Web Services frameworks, Grid computing technologies, distributed computing, and high-performance computing is highly desirable. 

Experience with software engineering best practices such as requirements gathering, version control, automated testing, and configuration management, is desirable.
