Our client is looking for a Development Manager to work on a current J2EE development project.  This is a distressed project that needs a development manager to manage the project and changes of this soon to implemented project.  There is an existing code base which needs to be maintained.  This is a 6 month contract with the possibility to hire!

The candidate needs to be a cultural fit – fast paced environment, team player, no ego maniacs, self-starter, someone who can get the work done. The DM will oversee a team of 40 offshore resources which consists of a Technical PM, Architect/Tech PMs, tech leads, and a pool of Java developers.  They must be technical (not necessarily a Java guru) but solid management experience is the key for this position.

Key Requirements:

Project recovery experience

Rational Unified Process (RUP) Experience

Managing J2EE developers, know WebSphere, need a Software Dev. Manager not a PM 

WebSphere experience – exp with WebSphere Commerce Server is a plus (App Server, Portal Server, Process Server) 

WebLogic experience is ok too 

Will be involved in design and architecture review 

Experience managing a team of at least 15 Java Developers 

Experience with offshore development teams – 2 calls a day to India 

Experience driving project deliverables with a team in India. 

Excellent communication skills, confident, good motivator

Will be able to work from home 2-3 days per week
