POSITION SUMMARY:

Design, develop, implement, maintain, and document, Java-based components requiring heavy database interaction (and some .NET/C#).  The current development team is small, fast, flexible, and has a proud and successful track record.  Although the team is small with the benefits of a start-up atmosphere, the parent company has great resources providing quality tools, training, and first-class employee benefits.

THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

•	Design software systems and components.

•	Implement and test new software designs.

•	Prepare various documents including specifications, detailed design descriptions and reports.

•	Manage updates to deployments of the group’s software.

•	Track software-related task progress in various information and issue tracking systems.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

•	BSCS or equivalent with 5+ years experience.

•	Or MSCS or equivalent with 2-3 years experience.

•	4+ years experience with the following development technologies: Java and SQL (MS SQL or Oracle).  Database experience should involve solving problems with large data stores and  the resulting storage and performance issues.

•	Experience with other technologies:  JMS, Spring, Hibernate, C#, .NET a plus.


SKILLS/ABILITIES:

•	Ability to interpret and convey technical concepts in an easily understood manner, both verbally and in writing.

•	Good analytical and debugging skills; strong software aptitude and creative ability.

•	Good organizational skills.

•	Self-motivated; ability to work under general supervision; receptive and supportive of team efforts.
