Our client is seeking a Java developer to join their team on an initial 6 month contract. The initial contract will be written for 6 months, with the possibility to extend another 6 months if earned. This architect will assist the current development team with a project to convert an existing application to more current technologies. This web-based application will handle the security and management permissions for a host of different web applications. The existing applications are currently in production and must be refactored to meet current reference architecture. Above the technical skills needed for this role...a proper culture fit is just as important. Our customer sees consultants as partners that want to join a group and help make them better. If you are looking for a place to park for a few months and make some money - this is not the place for you... 
Responsibilities: 

Work with an existing internal team to refactor a web-based security application. This application handles all of the security management and permissions for various web based intranets and applications across the enterprise. The project calls for a strong Java consultant that can work with minimal direction. The manager is specifically looking for a developer that can join the team and handle multiple, intertwined responsibilities. They need to excel at the coding tasks, stay focus and consistent with the internal reference architecture framework, update the internal Wiki when needed, and work independent of management hand holding. The expectations for this consultant are very high. 

The chosen consultant will have a strong technical background with multiple years of development which match well with our customer's technologies. On the font end, JSP and Javascript (DOJO toolkit would be great) experience is needed. The new application will be written using STRUTS 1.2 as the application framework. Web and enterprise experience using the SPRING framework is critical for this project. Experience using different SPRING modules is very important for this role. The consultant should be able to discuss and show their level of expertise with Spring Modules like IOP, DAO and AOP. Any experience with Hibernate would be very useful but not a requirement for the current job.
