Thompson Technologies has a contract to perm opportunity for a Senior Software Design Engineer in Alpharetta. Candidates must be willing and able to join a company on a perm basis. The preference is for local candidates.

Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for designing/developing new applications based on a large data-centric system utilizing following technologies Java, C++, J2EE, Oracle 10, Web/XML, Solaris, etc. You will participate in the full software development lifecycle.  Responsibilities include analysis, design, coding, testing, documentation and support.  Must work with Management, Marketing, QC, Support, and other engineers in the group.
 
Knowledge and Skills:
6+ years of software development experience required.
4+ years of solid Java programming experience required. 
3+ years of Oracle RDBMS and SQL experience required. 
3+ years of UNIX development required; Solaris preferred. 
Strong analytical and problem solving skills required. 
Excellent communications and writing skills required. 
Must be a quick learner and a self-starter. 
Experience programming in J2EE or PL/SQL is a plus. 
Experience with OOD, UML modeling tools and the use of design patterns. 
Ability to operate in a team environment and under tight deadlines.
