Sapphire Technologies is looking for a lead Java Developer to fulfill a permanent position for a client of ours in the Newnan, GA  The position may require 20% travel.
 
Position summary: 

The Java/WebSphere Developer - Commerce Lead oversees other developers as well as develops, modifies and maintains applications, applets, Portlets, skins, templates and RSS feeds, web services and other components used within the WebSphere Commerce Implementation


Skills and experience: 

5+ years IT related field experience

Excellent problem solving skills

Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal

The ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines 

Excellent customer service skills and the ability to pull together diverse working teams

Experience preferred but not required:

            WebSphere Portal V6

            WebSphere Application Server V6

            Advanced Java programming technologies used in web development

            Web integration technologies such as SOAP and RSS

            User Interface design and application usability 

            Advanced use of IBM’s Rational development tools


Essential duties:

Work with Business Analysts, Commerce Administrators and others to understand Commerce Development needs and develop written requirements and programming specifications 
Designs and codes all three layers; User Interface, business logic and database interaction, as required for commerce based applications, including “skins” templates, custom content and Portlets 
Works within established development standards and tools suite 
Develops store front pages 
Creates a new views 
Provides access control for views 
Uses proper development techniques for creating cached pages 
Maintains store text and property files 
Creates store pages that support globalization 
Handles errors in store pages 
Describes the provided business models 
Modifies store flows 
Regularly uses the following in development efforts:: 
XML technologies 
J2EE architecture 
Rational Application Developer 
SQL and relational database concepts 
J2EE development including JSP, JSTL, Java Beans, EJBs, etc
Provides suggestions regarding site usability 
Works with and modifies the database structure as required to support development projects 
Create and configure payment plug-ins 
Extend the persistence layer 
Enforce access control in commands 
Create and extend commerce commands 
Handle errors in commerce commands 
Integrate with other systems 
Implement web services 
Configure support for MQ Series 
 Supports SOX compliance by maintaining the environment within established guidelines and participating as requested in annual and other audits 
Maintain housekeeping 
Comply with safety rules 
Comply with environmental regulations 
Be aware of departmental Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)

Physical demands:  

Occasional lifting and moving of less than 50 lbs. 
Must possess the ability to work under stress of time critical objectives of medium to high complexity without direction
Work environment: 

Primarily in an office environment, will require some time in manufacturing environment to meet with users 
Requires overtime or adjusted schedules during major projects 
May require up to 20% travel
