We are currently seeking a Java Developer.
This position is in the development group in the Research and Development department, a group that works closely with the Quality Assurance group to ensure that business, technical, and market product requirements are met with a high level of quality and on time. Development is responsible for clarifying business and market requirements, identifying technical requirements, designing, implementing, supporting the testing and deployment of, and maintaining the systems and supporting related third-party software solutions. All Software Engineers are expected to carry out their job responsibilities as described below with a certain level of autonomy.
As a Software Engineer II, it is expected that the individual perform the primary job responsibilities with little supervision or guidance. Keys to promotion to SE III are:
Effectively mentor more junior SE's
Consistently demonstrate progress in performing secondary job responsibilities and
Consistently demonstrate the special skills and characteristics associated with the SE II position.
Primary Responsibilities:
Participate in full Software Development Life-cycle (SDLC) for existing and new products
Contribute and adhere to NSI software development principals, standards and processes.
Configure, install and maintain Development environments needed to carry out other job functions
Provide third level support for NSI applications and related technology.
Work closely with Product Management and Quality Assurance groups to ensure that the solution design meets the documented requirements and that test plan coverage is adequate
Document and maintain defects and enhancements in the Company issue management system
Make recommendations to product and technical management for application and tool improvements
Effectively and promptly communicate project status and issues to all parties of interest
Stay current on relevant technology, sharing new ideas and technologies that may benefit the group or the Company as a whole.
Secondary Responsibilities:
Proactively provide intra-departmental project management and leadership
Proactively provide intra-departmental and inter-departmental technology leadership
Consistently communicate technical information, both written and verbal, in a manner appropriate to the audience
Serve as internal technical resource for special projects
Other tasks, as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
Education - 4 year undergraduate computer science or engineering degree. A graduate degree in a related field is a plus.
Experience:
1 to 5 years of full SDLC software development experience with relevant technologies
Years of experience may be augmented by undergraduate and post-graduate coursework and internships.
Specialized Skills and Character Traits:
Flexibility to cope with process ambiguity
Ability to define and follow new processes
Thorough, clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently with little supervision or part of a team
Ability to understand the business and user perspective of issues and balance that with technical perspectives.
Compensation/Benefits:
$70,000 to $105,000 base salary per year
Standard company benefits
After 90 days of service, stock options may be issued based on performance at the discretion of the Board
Bonus potential up to 10% of base salary.
