Software developers at HUGE work as a part of the new engineering team located in Atlanta (Alpharetta), Georgia. The engineering team is responsible for backend server development, including the use and customization of content management software (CMS) systems, wikis, blogs, Ajax, and other Web 2.0 technologies.
The candidate will work with a cross discipline team consisting of interaction designers, visual designers, front end HTML/CSS/JavaScript developers, and project managers to implement fully functional websites for our clients.
Software developers will work primarily in Java, but experience or exposure to the Microsoft .Net environment and languages (C#) is a definite plus! The work will entail both custom development and the development of extensions to open source Java products commonly used in the Java web development environment.
As HUGE is a global company, software developers may be asked to travel, but any such travel is expected to be less than 20%.
Requirements:
* MUST have 2+ years professional programming experience, including the development of backend software for websites.
* Good working knowledge of the Java programming language
* Experience with the various APIs that comprise J2EE
* Experience in the use and programming of at least one SQL database
* Experience in the development of HTML, including related technologies such as XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
* Experience with at least one application server such as Tomcat, WebLogix, WebSphere, JBOSS, etc.
* Experience in the use of XML, including at least one of the common programming APIs used to manipulate XML.
* Must exhibit an appreciation for and fully cooperate in the advancement of agile development techniques such as: test driven development, incremental development, rapid turnaround, good source code control, and excellent commenting of code as a primary means of communicating knowledge to future developers so that they may work on the source code that is developed.
* Must be energetic and enthusiastic
Desired:
* Prefer a minimum of a BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a BS degree in engineering.
* Experience with content management systems (CMS) is a big plus.
* XSL experience is a plus.
* Experience with Microsoft .Net technology and the C# programming language is a big plus (some projects may require the use of .Net technology)
* Experience with test drive development tools such as JUnit is a plus.
* Experience with the Spring framework is a plus.
* Experience with Hibernate or other ORM technologies is a plus
* Large-scale consumer-facing web production experience in fast-paced agency, marketing and/or in-house creative services environments.
* Proven written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to multi-task.
* Demonstrated ability to function independently and still work well in a "team oriented" environment.
