Needed: Java Web App Developer

You'll be joining a growing team of 5 experienced Java developers working primarily onsite in a mixed Linux and Unix environment. We create and maintain applications for our broadband products used by many cable TV operators to supply data services to their subscribers. We do Internet applications, provisioning, customer service apps and network management products.

You need to be proficient with Java, JSPs, servlets and applets within a web-based environment. Experience with database access via JDBC and network programming is necessary. We expect at least 2 years worth of Java experience and about 4 years of related experience. The more the merrier.

You'll be responsible for coding new apps, collaborating on planning and design, assisting with software installation, and yes even testing is necessary. Don't be surprised when you have to help with upgrade patches of existing systems.

Our work is absorbing and important. You'll find yourself working closely with our customers and our project managers so communication skills and a get-it-done attitude really help. In particular, proficiency in written and spoken English is an absolute must-have. With our expansion into Latin America, Spanish would be a nice skill too.

As always, extra skills get extra attention. Here's a bit of what we'd like to see:
Experience in Solaris and Linux and other interesting operating systems
Experience with using Jakarta-Struts
MySQL or MS SQL or strength in another production RDBMS
Experience with Apache and Tomcat
Networking experience
Sockets, device control, SNMP
BS in Computer Science or Engineering
