Software Quality Assurance Engineer

Lithium Technologies, a leader in on-demand communities for enterprise customer support, is seeking a software quality assurance engineer to join our team and help build the next generation of online community software.

The SQA engineer will work directly with an agile software development team on every aspect of software design and development - from initial user stories all the way through release. SQA engineers love to figure things out for themselves, discover the corner cases, and determine new and creative ways to break things. They enjoy working with online community software and putting themselves in the end-user's shoes. They learn fast, relish complexity, and stand up for "the way things should work." They combine visceral loathing of making the same mistake twice with a desire to automate repetitive tasks, and are always trying to find new ways to make themselves and the company more efficient.

Lithium is committed to developer unit testing as an integral driver of software quality. If you've worked in places where engineers "throw it over the wall" for the SQA team to test, you'll know what we're trying to avoid. Every engineer at Lithium has individual quality goals.

Your responsibilities will include:

    * Reviewing and understanding user stories and product designs to ensure a quality customer experience
    * Developing test cases and test plans for new features
    * Black-box testing of new features and regression cases
    * Developing automated integration and functional tests
    * Managing QA sites, machines, and software, including scripting, setting up sites or virtual machines, and updating operating systems 

Qualifications:

    * A bachelor's degree in a technical or analytical subject, including engineering, mathematics, the sciences, or philosophy
    * The ability to understand, break, develop, and fix code. Experience with Java is a plus, but we believe that the right candidates will learn technologies on the job
    * Some experience with Web technologies, including HTML/CSS, Web servers, or application servers
    * Strong analytical capabilities - we love people with backgrounds in science or math and people who enjoy puzzles
    * A passion for software quality
    * A start-up attitude
