Job description:
Our Client is looking for an experienced Java Developer

POSITION SUMMARY: 

This Java Developer will be responsible for analyzing existing systems and processes, proposing and/or implementing necessary system modifications or enhancements, and will be able to document / diagram existing and proposed processes, determine solutions to technical problems, test applications and manage assigned resources to implement those solutions. 



Exceptional communication skills are required.




The ideal candidate will have, as a minimum

5+ years Experience in JAVA programming development, 

3+ years of object oriented development experience 

Server-side Java development experience

Programming methodologies

Sound software development processes

Experience with SQL Server. 

Experience in US IT industry 



Experience in a high transaction processing center will be a huge plus



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Develop software solutions as defined by the requirements

Contribute to project specifications

Contribute to project work plan and schedules

Produce status reports

Mentor/Assist Junior Software Developers

Resolve technical issues

Assist with all aspects of software development, testing and delivery



QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors* degree or equivalent experience 

5+ years JAVA experience

MS SQL Server experience

Experience in US IT industry 

XML, API, C++ or .Net experience a plus (but not required)

Experience with client/server technology

Experience with relational databases

Strong oral and written communication skills

Ability to work under pressure; must thrive in fast-paced environment with little structure

Strong people skills; must be team player willing to wear multiple hats

Creative problem solving



Would expect to interview candidates with varying combinations of these skills:

*Object-Oriented Analysis/Design 
*Proficient Java skills 
*Web Development (HTML, JSPs, taglibs, Struts, EJBs) 
*Java / J2EE
*JBoss, Maven, CruiseControl, SubVersion, Pentaho, Hibernate

*Dell Commodity Servers for Transaction Processing, Unisys ES7000 for OLTP database
*Database (SQL), XML
*Experience with a documentation software, such as VISIO 
*Knowledge of development methods and practices in a multi-platform environment 
*Strong analytical skills 
*Prefer knowledge of JRlues, Ant, SOAP, Web Services, JBoss, JUnit, Mercury, Load Runner. 
*Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and staff. 
*Ability to analyze business or system issues and provide solutions. 
*Ability to provide and consider alternative solutions. 
*Strong understanding of impact analysis and effective program change control. 
*Knowledge of development methods and practices in a multi-platform environment.
*Able to thrive in extremely fast-paced environment with flexible structure & methodologies
*Should be familiar with all of the following: JSP, XML, SQL, J2EE frameworks, Struts, Ant, and one or more Java Application Servers (JBoss, Tomcat, Oracle 10gAS, etc.)
