This job is a 3 mos. contract-to-hire position.  This is a grant-funded position and is guaranteed for 18 mos.

Participates in all aspects of project development including; analysis, development, testing, documentation and deployment. Has the ability to troubleshoot complex problems with minimum supervision and is willing to support and make enhancements to existing applications. Works well with customers, project team leaders, developers and other support and groups.

Primary Job Responsibilities
* Analyzes, writes, tests and deploys and/or maintains software systems
* Modifies existing software written in-house
* Prepares SDLC documentation as assigned by a project manager
* Assists with the integration and functionality of all software systems used within organization to maximize technical environment
* Demonstrates a willingness to accept new or additional responsibility
* Helps define functional specifications of software systems
* Seeks and take advantage of opportunities to expand knowledge of operations beyond normal requirements or expectations
* Understands system validation documentation in a regulatory environment

Education/Training

BA or BS in computer science, mathematics or a computer-related field and
2 or more years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requirements:

Min. 2 yrs. Java dev. 
OO analysis and design 
Scripting languages 
Use of J2ee/Java Server technologies 
Development of Java web-based apps. 
Relational databases 
Work independently and in a team environment 
Experience with Object oriented programming language 
Development skills may include: VB, HTML/DHTML, JSP, Java 
Servlets, Oracle, PL/SQL, Java, UNIX, Windows, J2EE, XML and Python 
Knowledge of web architecture, application development, and security procedures 
Understanding of relational database concepts and products 
Ability to handle multiple projects at one time 
Good understanding of SDLC processes 
Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing 
Good analytical skills 
 
Preferred:

Experience w C or C++
Experience w/ Jboss, EJB 3.0, JSF, Struts, Facelets, Seam
O/R persistence and query engines
UML modeling experience
Knowledge of JDK 1.5
Knowledge of laboratory inventory mgmt, including shipping and receiving
