Position Purpose

Seeking entry-level talent looking to build a career with the nation’s top home improvement retailer. Candidate will be exposed to the latest technologies. Will work with IT teams and business partners to understand strategic initiatives as well as clarify and prioritize challenges and opportunities for systems. The person will apply advanced problem-solving techniques and coordinate with other core team members to resolve system issues, maintain complex business logic and identify and implement appropriate resolutions. Candidate must be proficient in programming in the Java/J2EE environment. Responsibilities will include managing day to day operational tickets, identifying trends, performing root cause analysis, present findings, develop solutions to fix issues, building requirements, contribute towards building solid design, do application coding as well as unit and system test planning and testing. Must have the capability to apply thorough understanding of SDLC in order to ensure proper usage of methodology as part of the design efforts in building a system to be put into production. Conduct appropriate test reviews for assigned projects. Must follow the processes, policies, standards and procedures to assure compliance with corporate and regulatory policies and standards. Must be willing to work in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Understanding of application development process. 

Proficiency in the following: Java/J2EE, writing complex queries for DB2. 

BS or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field is required, but will consider individuals with relevant IT certifications and/or programming experience. 

1-2 years related experience.

Experience developing programs for production.

Demonstrated ability to take business requirements and use to formulate technical design.

Ability to communicate issues and recommended solutions in a timely manner.

Solid experience in documenting requirements.
