Business Title:  Software Engineer, Network Inventory Systems

Role:  
This position is a Java developer within the team that supports network inventory applications used in the telecommunications engineering and operations functions at Cox Communications.  Primary responsibilities include the development and support of integration software between the Telcordia Granite and other OSS/BSS applications.  Integration points include NetCool (network surveillance and management), Remedy (event management), GE Smallworld (outside plant GIS), Web Methods (business process management), customer billing applications, and Discovery and Reconciliation applications.  Responsibilities will also include development and maintenance of validation software, name generators, wizards, and special purpose GUI's used in the network inventory applications.  Specific responsibilities will include preparation of detailed specifications from which software will be developed, participation in design reviews, code production, testing and quality assurance activities, documentation, maintenance, and upgrades of developed software.

Qualifications/experience:   
The successful candidate will have 2 to 4 years development experience in a J2EE environment, including experience with Session and Message Driven EJB’s, object oriented development, web development utilizing Servlets and JSP’s, and a working knowledge of JDBC and basic SQL.  An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or the equivalent is required.  

Consideration will be given to experience or familiarity with the BEA WebLogic application server family, Web Services development, XML parsing tools and technologies, Korn/Bourne shell script programming, Java build tools such as “ant”, Oracle tools such as SQLPLUS and SQL Loader, and JUNIT experience. Exposure to Source Code Management tools such as CVS or SubVersion is a plus.  Experience in a telecommunications OSS application development and support environment is also a plus.
