Emerging small company seeks Java developer to work on the management system for the flagship product. Must be comfortable with taking ideas from high-level description to prototype to final specification, seeking feedback from others, and then implementing those features. Low to moderate scope of projects is expected. Will join an established but dynamic team as a strong contributor with much personal responsibility for projects and tasks. Must be comfortable with helping to set own goals and following through to their completion. Familiarity with Scrum a plus. 
 
Required Skills: 
• Very familiar with general application development with the Java 2 platform.  
• Knowledge of building multi-threaded, multi-user, client-server applications.  
• Technical focus bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (4+ years). 
 
Nice-to-have skills: 
• New features of the Java 5 platform.  
• Basic XML Document and XML Schema (XSD) processing using JAX-P (Xerces-J) and/or JDOM.  
• Deploying applications using Java Web Start.  
• Experienced in GUI application development for multiple target platforms (Windows, Mac OS X, Linux), particularly with Swing.  
• Servlet development and deployment in the Tomcat application server.  
• Developing applications using the Eclipse IDE.  
• ILOG JViews visualization components.  
• Application internationalization. 
• Familiarity with network security or network monitoring. 
• Experience with agile methods and process, including Scrum. 
 
Responsibilities 
• Will take ownership for existing components of the shipping product 
• Will drive creation of new components, documents and UI elements within the existing system framework 
• Will collaborate on design discussions 
• Will develop prototypes, seek feedback, and refine requirements for new components 
• Will implement, unit test and commit changes to the system, including documentation of any significant new features or changes
