Our client is in need of a Java Architect to architect, design and develop their web enabled tools that provide access to national public records. This role will have an external customer facing element to it as well, as this Java Architect will also function as the primary customer contact on technical engagements. This is for a full time job in Midtown, Atlanta. This is an excellent opportunity for growth. Competitive salary and benefits offered. 

Responsibilities • Prepare business requirement reports, feasibility studies, and cost justification statements. • Function as primary customer contact on technical engagement. • Lead and coordinate technical activities and artifacts throughout projects. • Set project plan, milestones and identify critical paths within project plan. • Design software using the Unified Modeling Language. • Lead team of Software Engineers doing detailed design and development of software applications utilizing the Rational Unified Process. • Architect, design, and develop core components using Java, JDBC, Servlets, SOAP, XML, JSP, and RMI. • Plan and conduct formal reviews of the software architecture. Work with business units to identify and specify business requirements and processes • Conduct and assist specification walkthroughs • Facilitate JAD/project planning sessions with technical and Marketing teams, ensuring development efforts are both business unit and customer focused and supportable from a technical perspective • Determine requirements for data, data structures, hardware, and architectures • Analyze and define requirements needed for system impact and prepare documentation and/or specifications • Relate complex, non-standard business unit needs to corporate automated solutions without assistance; analyze and develop alternative solutions resulting in effective resolution, from an implementation and support perspective • Provide project leadership and/or management for large/complex projects using influence and negotiation • Provide feedback to management, both Customer Support and Business Unit, on issues with projects and/or accounts • Function as primary contact for business unit on all technical issues; acting as liaison between the business unit and COEs • Assist in planning, organizing and controlling the activities of team members. Provide guidance to team members 

Knowledge and Skills Education: Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related degree. Advanced degree in computer science preferred. 

• Ten or more years of experience in software design and development, including five plus years of practical Java programming experience. • Intimate knowledge of Java programming, Java Servlets, Java Server Pages, Web Services, JDBC, SOAP, XML and RMI. • Strong grasp of UML and design patterns, particularly Model-View-Controller. Strong understanding of Internet web application architectures and internet application design. • Strong database/SQL skills. Experience using UML Case tools is a plus. Familiarity with middleware products such as MQ Series a plus. • Ability to make educated, critical judgments in the absence of complete information. As the technical driving force behind the project, demonstrated leadership skills, project technical lead experience and strong communication skills are required. Ability to work in customer environment representing the company in a positive light is essential. 

Travel: Some overnight travel may be required. Under 10% of the time
