The B2B architect will be a thought leader, well versed in both the hardware and software systems that make B2B possible.  The technologies in play today include a J2EE based custom application, Resin, ATG Dynamo, DataPower, and Apache.  Our systems are OTA standards based.

The architects will not be writing code day in and day out.  They will be coding for prototyping and R&D purposes however.  Most of their time will be helping design solutions with others so that their channel fits within the whole of DT nicely, possesses a logical consistent structure, and is easily understood by engineers who must operate within the channel (both hardware and software engineers).  The architects must be familiar with enterprise system concepts.  They should be comfortable with Java systems.  They should know when things should be cached, and when they shouldn’t.   They should know when things should be distributed, and when they shouldn’t.  They should know how to lead by persuasion versus title and position authority (while we have that, the team will not use that to enforce things).  They should be fun and engaging.  They should understand network impacts.  They should have an entrepreneurial bent.  They should not be technology bigots.   They should be able to change their perspective from their particular channel to the entire Distribution Tier and back again.  They should be technology geeks.  They should know when a hardware solution is more appropriate than a software solution.  They should know when reality has to set in and we have a business to run.  They have to be comfortable documenting their guidance.  They have to be willing to collaborate on solutions with technical leads.  They know how to communicate.  They must know how to make systems that can be operated.

The candidates must have experience with: J2EE based custom applications, Resin, ATG Dynamo, DataPower, and Apache.  Their systems are OTA standards based.

For each resume that I believe encompasses the right mix of attributes, I will ask the person to come in for an interview.  I will meet with them first.  If they do well enough, I will then ask the other architects to come in to talk with them.  If we all agree that the person passes muster, then the job will be offered.
