Our customer is headquartered in Atlanta. 

Our customer is looking for a seasoned engineer to join their team on a contract basis. The contract length will be 6 months + because this is a very large scale project with tight deliverables and a large amount of work. 

The main responsibility for this role will be two fold. One will be to work on the current application; then in the first quarter of 2007 commence a complete re-architecture of this legacy application to J2EE / MVC architecture. This is an awesome opportunity for a very seasoned consultant who wants to put their mark on an application. 

The application is currently a thick client app utilizing SWING for the front end, pure Java in the middle tier and JDBC to connect to various databases and PCMCL to the AS/400. To support this application - this role calls for a true software engineer. The ideal consultant will have worked with SWING in the front end; but more importantly have server side Java skills with multi-threading and socket level development. The consultant should be able to very clearly and concisely drill in to socket level development and threads discussion being able to engage in a conversation about program calls, thread prioritization, etc. 

The re-architecture would like to move the business logic from the SWING front end to the middle tier using MVC design patterns. 

Because this is a large money making application for our client - they are looking for very seasoned people who have a proven track record of successful re-architecture. The interview will evaluate the candidates multi-threading and socket level development, along with their re-architecture skills. 

Contract will be in Atlanta near Perimeter mall, and is scheduled to start immediately
