Our client is the third largest ERP company in the world. They are looking for Sr. Java engineers to contribute to the core technology of the business. This is all green field development. Our client’s environment is Agile; therefore full lifecycle development experience is a must have. Successful engineers will have the ability to think outside the box and can see concept through delivery. 


The primary function of the Senior Java Engineer is using the techniques of analysis, design, prototyping, developing, and testing; as well as, provide assistance and direction to other Software Engineers to create the core technology of our client. Initial responsibilities include: development in JAVA in a J2EE environment with significant development with relational database systems (i.e. MS SQL Server, Oracle,). Candidates must have strong JAVA, JMS and JDBC experience in addition to very strong Eclipse development experience. 


Position Responsibilities: 

• Work on fixing product defects and feature enhancements. Develop more advanced software modifications and/or applications, producing code that is functionally correct, according to specification, using established development and documentation standards, technologies, and methodologies. 

• Design program structures, algorithms, and specifications using established standards, technologies, and methodologies. 

• Provide accurate work estimates for completion of tasks. 

• Assist with quality assurance testing and updating/writing of documentation as assigned. 

• Provide internal technical support by providing information on software operation and custom enhancements, providing bug fixes, and input to customer quotes. 

• Respond to software error reports by analyzing the information, researching all available support material, formulating a solution, making software changes where appropriate or escalating to higher management level. 

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Software Engineers and to act as a knowledge leader for database development, when required. 

• Research new developments and advise development management of new software enhancements, when required. 

• Provide timely management reporting and appropriate escalation of issues. 
• Ensure adherence to all Corporate and Local policies. 

Required Skills: 

• Very strong in Java, J2EE, JMS, JDBC and related technologies 

• Experience in developing applications in J2EE environment spanning both Web tier and EJB tier. 

• Proficient with at least one of RDBMS technologies - Oracle, or SQL Server 

• Past experience with building and architecting complex applications in Java using Spring, Hibernate, and Eclipse 

• A great attitude and willingness to dive into issues and resolve them 

• Familiarity with and practical usage of various design patterns. Knowledge of Object-Relational mapping technologies. 

• Worked with application servers like BEA Weblogic Server, handling server level issues like threading and data synchronization. 

• Requires organizational skills to meet deadlines 

• Requires oral communication skills to effectively explain technical concepts. 

• Requires leadership skills to provide guidance to other Software Engineers and associates. 

• Requires analytical skills to analyze data, perform research, and diagnose and solve problems. 

• Requires problem-solving skills to solve diverse problems. 

• Takes initiative and be a champion for making things better and gets the buy-in of right people to help move things forward 

• Openness and willingness to learn new things and think of ways to use them 

Desired Skills: 

• Knowledge or experience with developing Eclipse plug-in’s from scratch 

• OLAP and ETL experience is a plus 

• Green field development experience (full lifecycle, Agile)
