Summary:  The Middleware Consultant designs and implements software systems in the areas of application servers, portal servers, messaging systems, relational databases, and e-Commerce frameworks.   This is a hands-on technical consulting position involving installation, configuration, tuning, and support of a variety of vendor application infrastructure products including WebSphere, Weblogic, DB2, Lotus, Oracle, and also open source systems.  

Duties other than those specified may be assigned.  
· Perform customer-facing engagements in the technology areas described above.
· Participate in technical pre-sales activity to communicate our approach and value-added services for Middleware technology.
· Build proof-of-concept systems and demonstration environments for both Optimus-internal and customer requests.
· Maintain current technical certifications in assigned technology areas.
· Participate in both Optimus-provided and external training classes to advance technical skills for new and emerging technology.
· Provide technical scope and estimations for proposals and statements of work.
· Work closely with both the customer and Optimus sales staff to position consulting services and generate new business and opportunities.
· Maintain familiarity with a variety of consultative concepts, practices, procedures, and industry trends.
· Work with other consultants in both Optimus Consulting and Optimus Solutions to share technical knowledge and collaborate on building business-driven solutions for our customers.

Required Experience:
1. 2+ years of overall experience in building software and middleware systems.  Experience should be varied and involve application development, systems administration, and middleware implementation.
2. At least 1 years of Java development or administration experience.
3. At least 1 year working with relational database systems (DB2, Oracle, SQL Server) as either a developer or administrator. 

Preferred Experience:
1. Certification as a Sun Certified Java Programmer.
2. Certification on an Application Server platform such as WebSphere or Weblogic
