Position Description
Solution Architects are part of the CyberSource Professional Services organization and work directly with CyberSource’s enterprise clients to deliver complex Payment & Risk Solutions. Solution Architects work with clients to strategically integrate CyberSource Solutions into their web and/or legacy environments.
Solution Architects have a broad responsibility that includes mentoring, some project management, technical leadership, application design and development, and cross-department communication. To be successful, Solution Architects possess a full understanding and demonstrated knowledge of Payment and Risk solutions, development methodologies, consulting best practices, and common web and application architectures.
Solutions Architects are expected to bring to bear their extensive technical experience on complex projects.
This position requires excellent client, development and technical skills; expertise with various web publishing environments and architectures; and documentation experience. Successful candidates will have a high energy level, experience within consulting and/or product development organizations, and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both business and technical audiences.
This position will have heavy client interaction and will have significant time spent working at client sites.
The position requires up to 75% travel.
Responsibilities include:
• Work independently or lead small technical teams with CyberSource enterprise customers to evaluate their Payment and Risk architecture and deliver the appropriate integration solutions.
• Work closely with customers and pre-sales teams to manage and implement customer engagements, propose technically feasible solutions, and set accurate expectations on effort and timelines for integration. Establish success criteria and act as the single point of contact for the customer for all technical issues and technical deliverables.
• Provide consultative sales support including presentations to and meetings with prospective clients as well as proposal support to accurately determine time and cost implementations.

• Work closely with account management, sales professionals, engineering, product management, and customer support to resolve technical issues that arise during customer engagements.

• Leverage extensive knowledge of industry standards and software development skills to make technical recommendations on complex problem resolution, always with an approach that utilizes repeatable, efficient processes and best practices.
• Identify new product features and additional sales opportunities during pre-sales activities and project engagements. Effectively communicate these concepts to product management and sales teams.
• Act as a mentor, coach or trainer to consultants by sharing business or technical expertise.
• Ensure customer satisfaction through quality work and effective communication throughout projects.
• Track and document status and time spent on customer integrations.
• Participate in internal projects that help scale the organization, implement best practices, and improve our methodology and quality of integrations.
• Review technical quality of customer integrations
Qualified candidates should have the following background and skills.
• 6-9 years of experience
• BS degree in CS, MIS, CIS required
• Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• Payment & Risk Knowledge a strong plus
o Credit Card and/or Electronic Check processing knowledge and/or expertise a plus
o Bank/Processor Reconciliation knowledge and/or expertise a plus
o Electronic Payment Fraud knowledge and/or expertise a plus
• Business Skills
o Strong communication (verbal & written), presentation, organizational and interpersonal skills
o Strong customer service skills; frequent strategic interactions with high level clients
o Must have the ability to use a logical, systematic approach to problem solving
• Technical Skills
o Expert-level knowledge of application design and coding techniques, as well as a thorough understanding of installation, testing methodologies and troubleshooting techniques.
o Experience 'owning' the design of a major/large component of an application or software architecture.
o Solid understanding of web based & object oriented application architectures and techniques
o Fluent in Java and at least one other language such as C/C++.
o Experience with Microsoft development technologies (VB, ASP, .NET, C#, etc)
o Extensive expertise in data-modeling and database design, UML, messaging.
o Cross platform knowledge in Unix and Windows.
o Solid understanding of enterprise database products (Oracle, SQLServer, DB/2)
o Extensive knowledge of and hands on experience with Web technologies such as J2EE application servers (WebLogic, WebSphere, etc.), EJB, Struts UI Framework, portals, etc.
o Familiarity with legacy system technologies and architectures (e.g., AS/400, MVS, COBOL, CICS, etc.)
o Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Software
o Proficient in the use of Microsoft Project
