Java Developer

Candidate will be experienced in general software development concepts, practices and procedures, requirements definition and transformation of business requirements to hard deliverables The incumbent generally works under deadlines and is capable of handling heavy workloads, and operating with only general supervision

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, document and Unit test a web based system using Java, JSP, Javascript, Tomcat, Spring, Ajax and Hibernate.

Install and configure web server and application server on workstation for development and testing 

Read and understand both requirements (use cases) and architecture documents (UML) 

Develop detailed designs consistent with object-oriented principles 

Document detailed design objects using JavaDoc standards 

Implement application design using Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) application framework 

Present work in peer review sessions and resolve all identified issues 

Work with web developers to integrate Java functions with Java Server Pages (JSPs) using STRUTS tag libraries 

Accurately estimate work effort and complete assignments on schedule 

Able to work in a distributed team environment. 

Occasionally, may provide guidance and assists in training of less experienced staff.

Development of documentation of system interface functionality. 

Work effectively with Technical Architects, Developers, Testers and Operations to create and deploy solutions


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience and demonstrated competence in systems development using Java, Spring, Spring MVC, Hibernate and JSPs in a J2EE-based system required.

Experience with version control systems, preferably CVS, required.

Must have understanding of and experience with relational database concepts and use of SQL queries.

Critical thinking, troubleshooting and problem solving skills are essential.

Ability to design, develop and implement high-quality code in a timely manner.

Working knowledge of system development life cycle methodologies and the Unix operating system.

Must be willing to contribute as a team player.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical problems to non-technical audiences.

At least 6 years of development experience.

Software development methodologies (Agile, RUP, Iterative)

Strong problem solving and analytical skills

Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
