Java Software Engineer

Description
This position will design, develop, implement, maintain, and document, Java-based applications for commercial deployment purposes. Essential functions, skills and abilities include:

•	Design software systems and components.
•	Implement and test new software designs.
•	Prepare various documents including specifications, detailed design  descriptions and reports.
•	Manage updates to deployments of the group’s software.
•	Track software-related task progress in various information and issue tracking systems.
•	Ability to interpret and convey technical concepts in an easily understood manner, both verbally and in writing.
•	Good analytical and debugging skills; strong software aptitude and creative ability.
•	Good organizational skills.
•	Self-motivated; ability to work under general supervision; receptive and supportive of team efforts.

Qualifications
Candidates for this position should possess a BS in Computer Science and 5 plus years of experience or an MS in Computer Science with 2 or more years of experience.  Experience should include 4+ years with the following development technologies: Java, Spring, SQL, JDBC, Hibernate, and JMS; and professional experience with network application programming techniques, like: routing and message queuing. Experience developing software in a UNIX/Linux environment using standard source code control and issue tracking techniques is highly desirable.

Prior AMR (Advanced Meter Reading) or AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure)experience a plus.
