UNIX System Administrator

UNIX Administrator is familiar with clustered environments that can provide support for the administer UNIX/LINUX based security appliances; assist with Windows server administration.  This Administrator will also be responsible for documentation of systems and configurations and installation of hardware and operating systems involving vendors, network and security managers.  Automate routine tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·	Maintenance of UNIX servers.
·	Daily backup duties.
·	Follow procedures for urgent requests.
·	On-call on UNIX on-call rotation schedule.
·	Sun Solaris administration, including system patching and system maintenance.
·	Shell scripting (CSH, SH, KSH).
·	Sun hardware maintenance.
·	Oracle 9i installation (client and server).  Oracle 10g is a plus.
·	MySql v4.x server installation.
·	Setup and maintenance of J2EE environments with Sun servers.
·	Apache v4.x installation and maintenance.

Qualifications

·	SQL query knowledge (Oracle and /or MySQL)
·	Solaris administration.
·	FreeBSD administration.
·	RedHat Linux administration.
·	NIS installation.
·	Sed & awk knowledge.
·	Sendmail configuration.
·	Moderate Perl scripting.
·	Light Windows administration (setup scheduled jobs, file permissions, etc.).
·	BEA WebLogic experience.

Educational Preferences:

4 years of UNIX Administration work plus 4 years scripting.  BA in Computer Science is a plus.
