CLIENT HAS A FULL TIME PERMANENT OPENING FOR A SR. SOFTWARE DEVELOPER/LEAD DEVELOPER. DESCRIPTION IS BELOW.

Qualifications: The Lead Software Engineer is a senior member of the Media Asset Management development team. This team builds and maintains mission-critical video production systems for the CNN television networks. Sample projects include media asset management systems, digital video archives, and catalog/search systems. The Lead Engineer will participate in, and help guide, application development activities through the full systems lifecycle including requirements management, design, development, testing, and deployment.

Duties: Qualified candidates will have previous experience building medium- to large-scale, mission critical production systems that directly support essential business or technical functions. Practical experience in the key disciplines of object-oriented software engineering including OOA, OOD, OOP, and testing of OO systems is required. And because managing video assets stresses many elements of general purpose computing infrastructures, the Lead Engineer is required to have solid system engineering (e.g., technical and application architectures, database, operating systems, networking) skills in addition to application development skills. 

Most development work is done using Java and associated J2EE technologies, but many other environments are in use. For example, some applications directly control electronic equipment. In these cases, socket programming and device control applications may be built and maintained by the team. 

- BS in Computer Science or related field required; MS in Computer Science or related field preferred. 
- Seven or more years of application development experience. 
- At least four years of Java/J2EE experience, with two years in a lead role. 
- Three or more years experience with J2EE application servers, preferably Websphere 
- Strong working knowledge of XML/XSL, JavaScript, HTML, and associated technologies. 
- At least two years experience building and delivering distributed systems that perform critical business or operational functions, preferably in a real- or near-real time environment. 
- Two or more years experience with digital video and audio systems development strongly preferred. 
- Candidates must demonstrate excellent OOA and OOD skills. 
- Experience with cataloging, library, search, or other record and meta-data intensive systems preferred. 
- Five or more years experience developing systems with DB/2 (or Oracle). Candidates must have working knowledge of SQL.
