Job Description:

Incumbent is responsible for the analysis, design, and programming of Java software applications.

Maintains up-to-date knowledge of systems software and future trends and directions in the software industry.

Performs all functions of software engineers and lead software engineers, is self-sufficient, a self-starter, and innovative in solving the needs of business units.

Implements new system software or modifications to existing software with minimal impact to users.

Effects all programming, testing and analysis functions based on business requirements.

Participates in application design sessions.

Proposes and documents technical alternatives required to achieve business objectives.

Creates detailed design specifications for subsequent programming and implementation.

Interacts for purposes of application integration with business analysts, external consultants, Quality Assurance team, and peers in a team environment.

Responsible for programming, using J2EE, Java Server Pages, Tag Library Definitions, JavaScript, Web-flow Processors, XML Processors, and Sybase-stored procedures, views, and Structured Query Language.

Responsible for defining, managing and maintaining Application Server configurations and Application Builds using ANT scripts.

Creates periodic status reports for Information Technology Software Development and Support management, assists in developing project plans for major projects, and reports time against projects on a timely basis.

Has responsible for the support of production application environment.

Assists management with systems architecture and design.


Job Restrictions:
----------------

A Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.

Must have at least have five-plus years of computer programming experience with J2EE, structured query language and basic database knowledge. Must have at least five-plus years experience with UNIX scripts.
