Dear AJUG members!
Alert Location Changed: We have had a challenge with the Holiday Inn Select
and have decided to move more May & June meetings to the Marriott Perimeter.
Marriott
246 Perimeter Center Parkway Northeast
Atlanta, GA 30346
(770) 394-6500

Please help us get the "word out" on this location change. The Perimeter
Marriott is basically underneath the Marta train line and behind Chequer's
restaurant off Hammond Dr.
----
This is just a friendly reminder that the May meeting is here. This month
our very own Pratik Patel will talk about "Easy mobile development without
native code". I was just reading about the latest statistics on mobile phone
sales, which are stating that Android-based phones outsold iPhones for the
first time and both platforms have now roughly the same market-share (
http://www.npr.org/blogs/money/2010/05/android_outsells_iphone.html).
Therefore, the option of being able to develop for both platforms (and
others as well) with a single development approach does sound very
compelling. Additionally, for us application developers, mobile platforms
are getting increasingly important. Therefore, please join us for this very
educational and free event!!
Lastly, if you would like to present on Java/JVM related topics at our
monthly AJUG meetings and/or at the DevNexus 2011 conference, please contact
us at *info at ajug dot org*.
*This month's meeting details:*
*When:* May 18, 2010 @ 7:00pm
*Where:* Holiday Inn Select - Chamblee-Dunwoody Road (
http://www.ajug.org/confluence/display/AJUG/Meetings)
*Who:* Pratik Patel
*What:* Easy mobile development (IPhone, Android, iPad) without native code
*Description:*
So you have a great idea for an IPhone app, you've tried learning
Objective-C, but it's just too hard. What about those other new platforms
like Palm Pre and Android? Who wants to write the same app three times? Four
times if you count Blackberry! Fear not, there is a much easier way for you
to develop on the IPhone. Using a development style called "hybrid mobile
applications" you can write apps for IPhone and other platforms using stuff
you already know: HTML, CSS and Javascript. In this course, we'll go over
the basics for hybrid development.
