Hello AJUG,
What: The Layperson's Guide to Building a Better User Experience
When: Tuesday, April 15th at 7:00 PM
Who: Burk Hufnagel
Where: Holiday Inn Select - Chamblee-Dunwoody
http://www.ajug.org/meetings.html#directions
Description:
The term "user experience" refers to how your users feel about using your
software. It seems obvious that providing a great user experience can mean
the difference between the success and failure of your project.
In some organizations, a separate team of specialists handles user
experience design. Other organizations, which may not have the resources or
might not see the value of having a separate team that focuses on designing
a great user experience, leave it up to the developers.
This session is for all developers and architects interested in delighting
their users. The only requirements are to have an open mind and an interest
in improving upon what you already know.
Our Speaker:
Burk Hufnagel has been creating positive user experiences since 1978, and is
currently a Lead Software Architect at ChoicePoint Inc. Burk has been
designing and writing software for over 20 years, spending more than half
that time strongly focused on designing and implementing people-centered
User Interfaces. Burk recently authored a paper for the International
Association of Software Architects' Skills Library, describing the
not-so-subtle connection between User Interface design and User Experience,
and he was a featured speaker at the IASA's IT Architecture Regional
Conference 2007, held in Atlanta, GA. He is a bibliophile, technophile, and
intellectual neophile, who tends to appreciate esoteric subjects.
