[ajug-announce] AJUG Emergency

Hello AJUG'ers,

Our community has an emergency. Sungard, who has graciously sponsored rack
space for our server for many years now, has elected to discontinue that
sponsorship. The most disconcerting aspect of this change of heart is that
they have only given us 7 days notice to get our box out of their building.
Our crack team of server administrators (Gunnar, Justin, Robert) are in the
process of making a backup copy of our email list so we can at least
communicate with you directly but we need to find a new home, fast, really
fast.

We are looking for suggestions for another host, obviously the lowest cost
to drop our server in their cabinet/rack is important for the group. We'd
like to have an Atlanta-based provider so that we can physically lay hands
on the box when necessary. We don't use much bandwidth. :-)

As far as upcoming announcements, we do have meetings planned for April, May
& June (normal 3rd Tuesday, same place, same time). We also have a special
event on April 24th (same place, same time slot), Jim Baker for Jython and
Java's move into the dynamic language space. This will also be a very
exciting session, please put it on your calendar. We'll get out an invite
your can forward to your colleagues very soon.

Our April 15th meeting session will be one of our very own - Burk Hufnagel
on "The Layperson's Guide to Building a Better User Experience". This will
be a great practical session.

Please reach out to myself and Gunnar (gunnar at hillert.com) if you any
suggestions on server hosting. Our ability to host our website, manage our
own hardware, deploy our own software and have a common place for community
management is absolutely vital to our future success.

As always, I'd like to thank our "remaining" sponsors ;-)
