Dear Atlanta Java Developers:
We are very excited to have the team from Google to present on the Google
Web Toolkit for our February 2007 meeting.
Topic: Google Web Toolkit by the Google Team!
Time: 7:00 PM
Place: Holiday Inn Select
Date: Feb 20th, 2007
Description:
The Google Web Toolkit (GWT) is a Java-centric framework for creating AJAX
applications. GWT cross-compiles Java source into JavaScript, allowing Java
developers to use their existing Java skills and tools to easily create AJAX
applications with virtually no learning curve. After a short introduction to
GWT, we will dive quickly into a few key topics related to creating
"desktop-like" applications, such as the model-view-controller pattern and
providing rich user feedback.
Speaker Bio:
Bruce Johnson is a Google Software Engineer and tech lead of the Google Web
Toolkit (GWT). Prior to joining Google, Bruce cut his product teeth as lead
developer of AppForge's MobileVB product. His experience writing a Visual
Basic cross-compiler was slightly fun (in a masochistic way), designing a
portable version of Microsoft COM for non-MS embedded devices was much
funner, but, without question, cross-compiling Java into JavaScript for GWT
is the funnest. Despite his recent Java focus, Bruce will always be a Bjarne
Stroustrup groupie, and he keeps a copy of D&E in his night-stand.
