Topic: Stripes (the next killer web framework)
Date: November 21st (3rd Tuesday)
Location: Holiday Inn Select (details below)
Time: 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM
Stripes is a presentation framework for building web applications
using the latest Java technologies. The main driver behind Stripes is
that web application development in Java is just too much work! It
seems like every existing framework requires gobs of configuration.
Struts is pretty feature-light and has some serious architectural
issues. Others, like WebWork 2 and Spring-MVC are much better, but
still require a lot of configuration, and seem to require you to learn
a whole new language just to get started. This presentation will give
you a tour of Stripes and demonstrate how it can be used in your next
web-based application.
Speakers: Mark Eagle and Phil Barnes
Mark Eagle is a Java Architect at MATRIX Resources, Inc. in Atlanta,

projects such as Stripes, Hibernate, Spring, and Proxool. He has
written Java related articles for onjava.com and is a technical
reviewer for Manning Publications. His most recent technical interests
are learning the Ruby language and Ruby on Rails development.
Phil Barnes is a Senior Java Developer at MATRIX Resources, Inc. in
Atlanta, Georgia. Phil has been building Java applications since 1996,
and has been involved with and contributed to several open source

background. His current focus in the Java world is Stripes, Spring and
Hibernate while in the Ruby arena it is Ruby on Rails.
