The BEA Workshop IDE for creating web-based and web services-based
applications has been the easiest to use and most RAD oriented development
tool to hit the J2EE market in years. Now BEA is joining the Eclipse
community! This presentation will be given Pieter Humphrey (BEA's internal
expert on Workshop and this movement towards Eclipse, so ask the hard
questions).

May 11: Atlanta BEA dev2dev Users Group
BEA is joining Eclipse as a Strategic Developer - strengthening the Java,
Eclipse, and BEA communities. With this, BEA will implement its WebLogic
Workshop 9.0 using the Eclipse tools framework. What does this mean for BEA
and web tools in the future? Come and find out the direction they're moving
in and what to expect next.

Tonight May 10th, for those of you looking for something interesting this
evening check out the Ruby on Rails presentation at Agile Atlanta.

Obie Fernandez from ThoughtWorks will be giving a presentation on Ruby on
Rails, the wildly popular Ruby-based web application framework. Details of
the presentation and location are linked below:

http://agileatlanta.org/wiki/moin.cgi

Rails provides both the web and persistence aspects, enabling rapid
development. At minimum, Rails can be used for prototypes or proofs of
concept. However, Rails could conceivably compete with Java for some web
applications.
