Mark Eagle is one of our own - a local AJUG member who will educate us on
the use of the open source Spring Framework. No American Idol tonight so we
expect a good size crowd!!!

Topic Description:
By now almost everybody has at least looked at using Struts in the UI tier
and many have explored using Hibernate or other persistence frameworks in
the Data tier. However, for the business logic tier developers have not
developed a "standard" for how this layer should be written. J2EE vendors
have clearly pushed EJBs into this space.
Spring Framework - An open source framework for the middle tier.
The Spring framework is a major new application framework that works across
all tiers of J2EE applications but has some very specific advantages in the
middle/business logic tier. This presentation will describe what the Spring
framework provides and how to implement non-invasive Spring components into
your application. The presentation will concentrate on the lightweight
inversion of control container that Spring provides for the business tier
and database access. We will look at specific templates that Spring
provides for easier database access as well as built in AOP aspects such as
transaction management.
